Two more high-profile TaylorMade players have turned to use the TaylorMade's newest better-player irons -- TM R9 TP Irons. Following Retief Goosen, who made a switch to TaylorMade's new R9 TP irons before the start of the Presidents Cup in San Francisco in September.
Sergio Garcia put a set of R9 TP irons in his bag before the start of the Madrid Masters in early October, and has them in the bag again this week at the Castello Masters in Castellon, Spain.

Here we know some new gossip from golf and stars:

Monty favourite for victory

It's not often we here those words anymore. However, Europe's Ryder Cup skipper is playing in this week's Egyptian Open and Sky Bet's golf compilers have even gone to the trouble of pricing the event up, making Montgomerie the 3/1 favourite. The opposition? Several European Challenge Tour players, some Egyptian-based professionals as well as local and regional amateurs. So is big Colin just there to rack up a confidence-boosting win? Maybe, but the fact that he has his first Egyptian course design project underway at Citystars at Sharm el Sheikh may just have something to do with it.

Office star set to appear in golf movie

Fan of golf? Fan of the American Office? If so, you may be interested to hear that the US David Brent, Steve Carell, is rumoured to be appearing in "Missing Links," a golf comedy based on a novel from ESPN's irreverant golf writer Rick Reilly. "Carell has turned overconfident, deluded characters into a specialty both with his Michael Scott role on "The Office" and in development projects like "Brigadier Gerard," says the Hollywood Reporter who broke the news. Any chance of Ricky Gervais being given a cameo? After all, he did have a Full Swing Golf simulator installed at his London home last year.

His name is on the trophy

It's one of those things we like to say when a player gets the rub of the green or flukes a long shot. "Oh yes," we chuckle, "it looks like his name is on the trophy today." Well, on the Tour de las Americas this week that phrase can be used from the first tee with no doubt whatsoever. Why so? Well the event is being played in Paraguay and is a celebration of the nation's finest golfer. It is called the Carlos Franco Invitational, is being played at the Carlos Franco Golf and Country Club and one of the favourites to win is, err, Carlos Franco. It may seem to be an ego-trip of monumental proportions, but give Carlos a break: he built the course himself, he's co-funded the event and the profits are being ploughed back into the Carlos Franco bank account. Only kidding - the chief benficiary is Paraguayan golf.

You say tomato, I say tournament

The Ladies European Tour plays the second event of its short Asian Swing this week on the honeymooners island of Jeju. These days tournaments (especially in the States) can have some rather peculiar titles, but few have been quite as baffling as this one - the Daishin Securities Tomato Tour Korean Ladies Masters. So many questions, so few answers. Do the tomatoes need protection? What is a "tomato tour"? Is it something to keep the honeymooners occupied during the day? The event takes place at the Cypress Country Club, but you can't help thinking it should be at Cherry Hills, or the Vines, or even Plum Creek. We'd continue with the lame gags but our knowledge of tomato types has run dry (unless someone knows of a Beefeater Golf and Country Club).

Tuning into Twitter
fiona123 on "Golf Swing -- Learn Proper Takeaway"

The golf swing can seem quite complicated to the beginner or infrequent golfer. A new golfer may take a lesson or two before he starts playing, but instead of applying the lessons taught by the golf pro, he may just decide to hack away when he gets to the first tee. One of the keys to a productive golf swing is a strong takeaway--and it does not have to be complicated.

Step 1 Have your arms form two pieces of a triangle as you prepare to swing the golf club. Both arms should be hanging loosely in front of your body. Your left and right forearms should hang straight down. Your hands should be about eight to 10 inches away from your body.

Step 2 Make sure your knees are bent as you prepare to swing the club. This is not an exaggerated bend, just a slight flexing of your knees that will allow your body to pivot and turn. Many golfers tend to straighten up during the takeaway and try to hit the ball with a stiff right knee, but this is a mistake. Keep your right knee bent slightly.

Step 3 Keep your arms straight during the first part of the takeaway. Once you get your hands back to hip or waist level, you will have to bend your right arm. But in the first part of the takeaway, keep your arms straight and maintain the integrity of your triangle.

What can we see in 2010? The good news is that despite the economic downturn, the 2010 US Tour schedule will have a full schedule of 41 events.

For the third straight season, the schedule will feature 37 regular-season events and four Playoff Series events to decide the FedEx Cup champion.

The Fall Series events, which follow the Tour Championship (the FedEx Cup finale), have yet to be announced.

"We are very pleased to announce our schedule through the 2010 FedExCup season," commissioner Tim Finchem said in a statement. "Despite difficult economic times we once again have a full slate of events."

The PGA Tour have also announced that they won't be tinkering with the FedExCup's points system.

Rick George, chief of operations for the PGA Tour, said any adjustment to the points system was not on the agenda and not discussed at a policy board meeting earlier this week.

"We think the FedExCup did a lot of positive things and met the objectives we set for it," George said. "We don't anticipate it changing."

Key dates:

April 8-11 The Masters - Augusta, Georgia
June 17-20 U.S. Open - Pebble Beach, California
July 15-18 British Open - St. Andrews, Scotland
August 12-15 PGA Championship - Whistling Straits, Wisconsin
October 1-3 Ryder Cup - Newport, Wales

Changes from 2009 schedule:

The Buick Open is no longer and has been replaced by The Greenbrier Classic which will make its debut from July 29-Aug. 1 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia while new dates have been given for the Turning Stone Resort Championship and the Reno-Tahoe Open.

The Turning Stone moves from the Fall Series to the FedExCup season and will take place from Aug. 5-8. The Reno-Tahoe Open will be brought forward to July 15-18, the same week as The Open at St Andrews.

SBS, the Seoul Broadcasting System, are the new sponsors of the season-opener at Kapalua in Hawaii.

Full schedule:

Getting your swing back

I went to the golf course with my dad today for the 1st time in 2 weeks. I felt awkward out of place. I hit a few on the range and was pushing and fading everything when I normally hit a draw. I had been hitting a nice draw with my driver and now I am pushing it 40 yards right and with a slice

How do you guys get your swing back after you take some time off

Find a bestR9 driver for swing.

If anyone remembers the hiphop sensation that was "Dumbledore!" on the UEE tour, then you're in a for a treat. They are performing along with the hiphop versions of several wizrock bands in a show called WizRock Iz Dead. It'll be at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA on the Sunday of LeakyCon 2009. It's not a LeakyCon event though. I believe it's $10 and it's all ages. Supposedly tickets aren't on sale yet.

I know, I adore the new site. And Twitter is my new favorite thing ever!! But we can't write lengthy diatribes there, and I love to rant, ramble, and use excessive punctuation!!!!

But life is goooood. I just finished finals and am officially half way through law school - its time for a well deserved month off of classes before I go back and start again with a new set of laws to learn as well as my internship for a judge in Brooklyn!

Also: its snowing like WHOA in New York right now. I've not seen this much snow here before (I did only move here last year).

Hows about you guys?? How's life, what's up for Kwanzaa, and are you gonna rock the pants off of 2009?

ive been convinced to try last.fm, and its pretty awesome. Its kind of like Pandora - only you can collect artists, songs, and albums and make up your own library.

So currently on my station is Lou Reed - How Do You Think It Feels... but its likely that MC Frontalot is going to come on next...
